I also have a blu-ray boxed set with a hard to read disc.
I have a boxed set of a TV series that my LG drives wouldn't even recognize, but my Lite-Ons read no problem. I have had some discs that all my drives but one refused to read (and it's not always the same drive). I like to have a bunch of different drives because I've found some drives are better with some discs. Is that true? I've been thinking about buying an ASUS BW-16D1HT to add to my set of drives, but if it's the same internally, I guess it wouldn't be worth it.
I read somewhere on the MakeMKV forum that all these blu-ray drives have the exact same hardware inside, regardless of brand. What would you consider the best firmware for these drives (for whatever definition of "best")? I current have the one flashed to LG's 1.02, because that's what the old one was flashed at.
